Ddyn Books is the speculative fiction imprint of Uldune Media.
Current projects for are:
an
anthology of original Canadian science fiction
This
will be an anthology of original Canadian science fiction ONLY. No reprints.
No horror. No fantasy. However, I will be a little flexible
regarding some of the Canadian forms of magical realism, (e.g. ambiguous
"supernatural" phenomenon, that may be completely psychological, or
unknown technology, slippage between parallel worlds, or minor intrusions of
the supernatural, like ghosts in space).
But, only a little bit flexible.
Stories with these elements will not be rejected immediately, the
magical realism can be present, but the story MUST fit properly within the
science fiction genre. Simultaneous
submissions are not permitted.
This
is a themed anthology. What theme? That most classic of Canadian themes,
survival. Canada Abides. Can Canada and Canadians persist into the
future? Will we survive the next twenty
years? How will we survive? What form will that take?
No
AI
All
stories must be written by a human author. Stories generated or substantially
assisted by AI tools (such as Claude, Grok, ChatGPT, or others) are not
permitted.
Length,
rights, and payment
Stories
should be no more than 5,000 words. Payment is $0.05 per word CDN, paid on acceptance via PayPal or
e-transfer.
We
acquire first English-language world anthology rights (print, electronic, and
audio), exclusive for one year from the date of publication, non-exclusive
thereafter. After one year, the story may remain in the anthology indefinitely,
